Overview
Twenty years ago, South Africa emerged from generations of racial oppression. Our country has blossomed since independence and is currently the most vibrant democracy in the world. However, the apartheid legacy has left its scars and the country still struggles to deal with the legacy of its past.
District six museum
Deals with the experiences of the people that were forcedly removed during the
1966 under the government policy known as the group areas act. Here one will have the chance to interact with direct will former residents of the district six area.
Townships and Cape flats
The Townships and Cape flats were built to accommodate the people that were forcibly removed from the city and relocated to the Cape flats the first people to be removed were African in 1901 and were accommodated in the area of Ndabeni. Few homes were built but with no proper sanitation. Here you will have the opportunity to meet different people from all backgrounds. These areas are known for the solidarity that still exists from the days of apartheid. What we call Ubuntu is the spirit of togetherness. Children in the school in the informal settlement will entertain you. We will go beyond the tourist attractions to show how the people and government of South Africa are dealing with the issues facing the country and its people, the people of South Africa.
